About The Fifth Congressional District

Meet the New NC-05

Following the 2023 redistricting, North Carolina’s new 5th Congressional District starts out in the northwest portion of our state, where the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains meet the foothills, and extends along the Virginia line until the Piedmont Triad, hooking down to scoop up Greensboro.

This district includes some of the most varied political terrain in the state and comprises the cities of Greensboro, Boone, Lenoir, Wilkesboro, Mt. Airy, Reidsville, Sparta, Danbury, Jefferson, Taylorsville, Eden and Blowing Rock—alongside hundreds of other small communities where working North Carolinians are just looking for a fair shake.

Notable landmarks include Grandfather Mountain, the International Civil Rights Museum, Pisgah National Forest and portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pilot Mountain, The Blowing Rock, amongst dozens of other historic sites. This district also includes Appalachian State University, North Carolina A&T University, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
